Scripture is full of them. Whether it is the Riverside Tree of Psalm One, those of the field clapping their hands, or the Fig Tree Jesus cursed, the Bible repeated uses this powerful imagery of seeds, growth, seasons, pruning, deep rootedness, bearing fruit, etc.
As we celebrated Elie and Musa's marriage vows nestled in an ampetheater surrounded by trees, I'm reminded of how they support one another during the winds and storms, intertwining their root systems, shielding as they bend and sway.
YOU- our friends, family, fierce prayer warriors, fellowship of believers -have been our support system, bracing us with encouragement during the winds of life, rooting us together with your reminders of God's deep faithfulness and sovereignty. We are profoundly thankful for the forest of people who love and care for us.
We also seek to support and be rooted with others we serve alongside with and those we serve in Thailand. Julia Sloan continues to teach at Grace International School (GIS) and lead multiple Bible studies including teens and single women (one in Thai and one in English). We are looking forward to Miles and Hannah Hillman joining us this fall. They have had a long journey of fundraising and have just the last 5% to raise. They will be working on facilitative church planting, as well as leading our summer interns. We also have a young woman who will be seconded to our team from another organization. She will help with discipleship/mentorship, while also forming relationships in a Thai school setting. Please pray for these individuals as they adjust to their new culture and communities. Pray for us to lead them in a way that unifies and empowers us all to bear fruit that draws others to Christ.
We are currently recruiting for a pastor to lead a Reformed-focused international English-speaking church in Chiang Mai. If you know of anyone, please send them our way. This gathering started as a group of missionaries hungry for Gospel refreshment while continuing to serve in their local Thai churches and ministries. The group has already grown and is meeting weekly since we have left on Home Assignment. Please pray for a pastor to come shephard this flock.
