Come Unto Jesus

Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matt 11:28)

Laura Story's song "Come Unto Jesus" stems from this verse in Matthew 11, filled with the Comforter's promises of feasting, hope, and peace even amidst weariness, woundness, and brokenness.  We sing this song for those suffering around us as well as balm to our own souls as this June marks 11 years for us serving in Thailand.  We have seen the Lord's faithfulness over these years and rejoice, but we are also weary and in need of rest.  To this end, we will be taking a Home Assignment from June through end of December this year.  We pray this time to reconnect with our families, communities, and churches will be a time of mutual blessing and encouragement.  We also hope it will be a time of intentional spiritual renewal and ministry reflection/planning.

We will also spend this time doing some focused, intentional recruiting of new teammates to grow our team and help us in the important work of empowering Thai churches tonreach Thailand with the gospel.  Please pray that God would lead the perfect people to us and to his calling for them in Thailand?

Might you be one of those future teammates???

We will be based in Wisconsin for most of this home assignment.  We look forward to spending time with Elie and Lizzy this summer and celebrating Elie and Musa's wedding middle of July.  Please pray for Sam and Miriam as they renew/make friendships and adjust to school in the fall.

As you may recall, last fall/winter our support account was very low and we were beyond blessed with end of year giving and having a couple people join our support team on an on-going basis. THANK YOU so much to those of you that gave!  This amazing year end giving gave our account the boost it needed at that time, but we still need to increase monthly/annual giving to maintain our account over time.  Please continue to pray that we can meet our support raising goals.  We deeply appreciate all of your love, care and support!

Praise the Lord with us that upon our return to Thailand, we plan to have new teammates joining us.  We anticipate that a family will arrive in the fall and a single woman will join us in January.  As team dynamics shift and we come together, we know the Lord will grow His kingdom work.  We wait with excited expectation to see how He will unite and gather His beloved through them as well.

Pray for our current teammates and ministry partners as we are away.  It is so difficult to leave these love ones but we are always reassured that the Lord's continual provision and care for them comes from HIM, not us.

At our company leadership conference, the theme of Ephesians 4: 1-7;15-16 has reoccurred in several ways.  We are the body of Christ, given grace upon grace to love one another with humility and unity.  May we, only through the Holy Spirit's strength, continue to love the lost sheep, our Thai brothers/sisters, our team members, and the world-wide Church, including all of you.

Walking Alongside -the Joys and Heartache of Mentoring
There are varying definitions of mentorship.  One I like is "a discipleship relationship that focuses on equipping believers for the work of ministry so that they grow in maturity and unity in the faith with the ultimate goal of glorifying God."  In this, both the mentor and the disciple grow in grace as they grow together.   Over the last couple years, God has placed many opportunities for bo...
Love Is...
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant. 1 Corinthians 13:4 On Valentine’s Day, Becca and another missionary hosted a Ladies’ night, celebrating the love Christ has for us and we have for each other.  We enjoyed mookata (grilled meat) together, decorated heart-shaped cookies to serve at church the next day and built mini Lego flowers.  This event was a kick of...
A Very Merry Belated Christmas and Happy New Year from the Johnson family!
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel" As our family has celebrated the season of Advent throughout the years, our hearts have been drawn to different themes.  One year it was reflecting on Christ’s birth through Mary’s eyes, another year was focused on the Prince of Peace.  This year’s theme is IMMAN...
