Good Morning, Team!

Check out what's been happening in life and ministry here in Chiang Mai!

Church Camp

We have been working with the leaders of Cool Shade of Life Church and Chiang Mai Baptist Church to prepare for another church camp.  Camp will be taking place May 3-5 this year.  The theme will be "United in Hope".

This year will be the first time I’ve been invited to teach at the camp.  Lord willing, I’ll be focusing on Colossians 1:3-8, on the gospel being the hope we have laid up for us in heaven.

Please pray that I would be able to communicate the beauty of the gospel as the whole of our salvation, calling, adoption, justification, sanctification, glorification, etc.  Pray that this gospel would become the hope that encourages Thai believers to live into their identity as children of God rather than a law that drives them to obedience by fear.

Songkran in Chiang Mai

This past week was the Thai Songkran holiday.  It is one of our family's favorite times of the year in Thailand!!!  We were able to take a pick up truck around the old city and get wet with thousands of other Chiang Mai residents!

April 12, 2025

Held every April to mark the traditional Thai New Year, Songkran blends cultural tradition with pure, joyful chaos. What begins as a respectful water-pouring ceremony to honor elders and bring blessings quickly transforms into a city-wide water fight like no other.

In Chiang Mai, the heart of the action centers around the Old City moat, where locals and tourists alike line the streets with water guns, buckets, and hoses. Pickup trucks filled with barrels of water cruise slowly around the square, soaking everyone in sight. Music blasts from roadside speakers, parades march by, and smiling faces fill every corner.

It’s wet, wild, and full of laughter—a one-of-a-kind celebration of renewal, community, and pure Thai fun.

Thanks so much for your love, prayer, and support for our work in Thailand.

Blessings,

Ben and Becca Johnson

Love Is...
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant. 1 Corinthians 13:4 On Valentine’s Day, Becca and another missionary hosted a Ladies’ night, celebrating the love Christ has for us and we have for each other.  We enjoyed mookata (grilled meat) together, decorated heart-shaped cookies to serve at church the next day and built mini Lego flowers.  This event was a kick of...
A Very Merry Belated Christmas and Happy New Year from the Johnson family!
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel" As our family has celebrated the season of Advent throughout the years, our hearts have been drawn to different themes.  One year it was reflecting on Christ’s birth through Mary’s eyes, another year was focused on the Prince of Peace.  This year’s theme is IMMAN...
May the Peoples Praise You!
The Joy of Worship What stirs your heart to burst and your face to smile during worship?  One of my favorites is the sound of young children singing praises loudly and unabashedly to their Father and King.  Can you hear it?   This past Sunday, a little boy in our church joined the congregational singing with gusto and innocent joy.  I couldn't help but grin and sing a little harmony along with ...
