Big Plans for the New Year!

Over the past year, donations to ministry projects have made some really exciting ministry happen!

New Self Tech

Building an online business has given us "every day discipleship" reach into communities that traditional ministry might never normally go.  Ben works from the offices of a local IT company.  He knows and talks to Thai staff and IT professional from all over the world.  They know he's a believer and they see how he lives.

This past year, our business, New Self Tech, has been able to hire our first employee.  We provide her with meaningful work, and we show her what it means to be a Christian leader...or as she calls Ben, "Boss".  :)

With your help, we hope that very soon, New Self Tech will be supporting local ministries and discipling church planters and leaders.

Thailand Crisis Relief

During the month of October, Thailand was rocked by multiple floods that destroyed homes, shops, and lives in multiple cities.

Using resources from the Thailand Crisis Relief Fund, we were able to provide cleaning supplies, food, clothing, shelter, and other supplies to Thai people who were affected.

This fund exists to give us the ability to respond quickly to crisis situations with needed supplies and the hope of the gospel.  For more information about the Thailand Crisis Relief Fund, please click below:

Thai Non-Profit Foundation

Over the past year, we've been working with Cool Shade of Life Church to create a non-profit foundation.  The foundation would allow us to:

  • Avoid paying income taxes on ministry money brought into Thailand (Thai tax law is about to change in this regard.)
  • Open ministry bank accounts (we currently have to use personal accounts).
  • Provide volunteer visas for Serge teammates who come to work with us.
  • Help Cool Shade of Life own land, buildings, and other physical property in the foundation's name, not the names of the pastors personally.
  • Provide cultural and legal legitimacy for the ministry we do here.

Thai Leadership Fund

During the past year, we've been able to help a Thai pastor begin setting up ways to support his family and his ministry that are healthy, accountable, and not dependant on missionaries.

In the coming year, we hope to provide scholarships for pastors and their wives to come to retreats where they will be able to rest and find hope in the gospel for themselves, their families, and their ministries.

The Thai Leadership Fund helps make ministries like this happen.  For more information about the Thai Leadership Fund, please click below:

Cool Shade Church Home

For over 15 years, Cool Shade of Life Church has witnessed to and cared for church and community members all over the Chiang Mai area.  The church is in need of a physical home from which it's ministry and influence can grow deeper and wider.

The church recently purchased a piece of land where they hope to build a church building in the next few years.  This building would provide a space for worship, fellowship, training, and a center from which our work to plant churches around Thailand would take place.

We know there are lots of amazing ministries you could be supporting in the coming year.  As you pray about how to plan your year-end giving, we would be honored if you would consider one of the ministry projects listed above.

Each of them is aimed at empowering Thai pastors to plant Thai churches that reach Thai people.

We would love it if you would help us make that vision take place!

Blessings to you in the coming new year!

Come Unto Jesus
Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matt 11:28) Laura Story's song "Come Unto Jesus" stems from this verse in Matthew 11, filled with the Comforter's promises of feasting, hope, and peace even amidst weariness, woundness, and brokenness.Ā  We sing this song for those suffering around us as well as balm to our own souls as this June marks 11 years for us serving...
Walking Alongside -the Joys and Heartache of Mentoring
There are varying definitions of mentorship.Ā  One I like is "a discipleship relationship that focuses on equipping believers for the work of ministry so that they grow in maturity and unity in the faith with the ultimate goal of glorifying God."Ā  In this, both the mentor and the disciple grow in grace as they grow together. Ā  Over the last couple years, God has placed many opportunities for bo...
Love Is...
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant. 1 Corinthians 13:4 On Valentine’s Day, Becca and another missionary hosted a Ladies’ night, celebrating the love Christ has for us and we have for each other.Ā  We enjoyed mookata (grilled meat) together, decorated heart-shaped cookies to serve at church the next day and built mini Lego flowers.Ā  This event was a kick of...
