The Need:

For the past 10 years, Ben's daily vehicle has been his motorcycle. While a motorcycle has benefits, it also has significant challenges:

Can only move 2 people at a time max.
Can't haul much stuff.
Weather can be very inconvenient...especially rainy season!
Traffic can be dangerous/risky in Thailand...especially on a motorcycle.
Riding a motorcycle can be a physical game...and Ben isn't getting any younger. :)

Benefits of this Truck:

The truck we are hoping to buy has what we call in Thailand a "songtaew back". A songtaew is a pickup truck with bench seats in the back for extra passengers. This truck would allow us to carry lots of extra people (both in the cab and in the bed) as well as lots of stuff/equipment in the back. It is perfectly versatile for the following scenarios:

Hosting interns
Hosting short term teams
Every day/school/sports team carpooling
Ministry trips
Hauling equipment/large items

Timing/Deadline:

We are hoping to purchase this truck from a fellow missionary family. They are willing to give us time to raise the money for the purchase, but they can't wait forever.

As a result, we have a fundraising deadline of:

Important Financial Details:

The truck would need to be registered in our names (we would be the legal owners). IRS regulations forbid using non-profit donations for this transaction.

As a result, all money given would legally be considered "gifts" and not "non-profit donations".

This means that these gifts are NOT tax deductible.
